This workshop introduces secondary school teachers to assistive technology tools that support subject-specific learning, promote critical thinking, and foster problem-solving skills for all students, including those with special educational needs (SEN). Participants will explore tools designed for research, essay writing, and higher-order thinking skills. The workshop will include hands-on activities, demonstrating how assistive technology can be integrated into core academic subjects, enhancing students’ engagement and independence. Teachers will also explore strategies for collaborating with SEN Officers and parents/caregivers to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Mrs. Liza Ow is a dedicated educator whose passion for teaching has been unwavering for the past 36 years. Teaching is not just a profession but a calling, rooted in core values of Resilience, Respect, Integrity, and Commitment. With a strong belief that every individual possesses the potential to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to society, Mrs. Ow has worked extensively with students aged 7 to 18, ensuring that their diverse abilities are nurtured and recognized.
Since 2005, Mrs. Ow has collaborated closely with teachers, professors, and curriculum specialists from the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the National Institute of Education (NIE) to review and develop holistic, person-centred curricula across various subjects and learning domains. Leveraging on future-oriented pedagogical practices and Information & Communication Technology as the enablers, Mrs. Ow is dedicated to enriching and transforming the educational experience for adult learners, empowering them to co-create knowledge, engage in dialogic inquiry, and develop metacognitive capabilities.
Mrs. Ow’s love for teaching, coupled with extensive experience in courseware development, has led to the cultivation of a unique set of skills in curriculum planning, pedagogy, and assessment design. These skills are harnessed to help every learner reach their educational or professional development goals, making her a respected advocate and leader in the field of education.
