Feedback: Strategies to support teacher workload and improve pupil progress

In this session best-selling author Kate Jones will focus on the topic of her latest book: feedback. Kate will explore the research and explain what teachers can learn from the evidence about effective feedback in the classroom. This will include an in depth focus on written feedback, with practical examples for the classroom. Kate will also provide guidance and advice about verbal feedback, and how this can have a positive impact on pupil progress. This will be followed by examples of self and peer assessment, with tips on how to train students to self check and correct their work efficiently and move from novices to experts, when providing feedback and critique to their peers. There will also be examples of technology, apps and websites that can be used to communicate feedback to learners. Throughout the session there will be regular opportunities for reflection, discussion and an opportunity to ask questions.
